Are you planning to join your employer on holiday to China? If you are a domestic helper in Hong Kong, your employer can apply for a visa to travel to China. However, certain requirements and procedures need to be followed. Let's discuss more information.
 

Requirements

  • Have been working for at least 3 months with the current employer.
  • Hold a Hong Kong work permit valid for a minimum of 2 months and return to Hong Kong before the work permit expires.
  • Accompany the employer to Mainland for tourism, family visit, and shopping as the only purpose of entry.

Documents

  • Passport (both original and photocopy of information page and the photo page)
    • At least 6 months of remaining validity.
  • A photograph
    • Color photo taken within the last 6 months.
    • Photo size: 48mm x 33mm
      • Width of head: 15mm to 22mm.
      • Height of head: 20mm to 33mm.

  • Hong Kong ID and work permit of the applicant (both original and photocopy).
  • Hong Kong ID of the employer (both original and photocopy).
  • The employment contract (both original and photocopy).
  • Proof of residence in China’s mainland (hotel reservation, the Ownership Certificate of House Property of the employer, etc.).
  • Ticket booking (round trip - flight, ferry, or bus tickets, etc with the name of the helper).
  • Further documents may be requested in each individual case.

Application

  • Make an appointment to visit the Visa Application Center
    • Make an appointment here.
    • Apply for Domestic Helper Visa (S2).
  • Visit Visa Application Center:
    • Address: 20/F, Capital Center, 151 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
    • Submission of applications and Payment: 09:00 - 16:00.

      • Express Service: 12:00 - 16:00.
      • Regular Service: 10:00 - 16:00.

  • For the first-time applicant accompanying her current employer, the applicant is required to submit the application in person together with her employer at the Visa Application Center.
  • The applicant shall enter and exit Mainland China together with her employer and stay within the time limit prescribed by the visa.
  • The applicant may be requested to attend an interview while carrying her passport at the Visa Office of the Consular Department of the Commissioner’s Office before the deadline informed by the Visa Application Center.
